About

Bristol Elementary School (BES) is one of the five schools that comprise The Mount Abraham Unified School District (MAUSD).  We are located at the gateway to the Green Mountains in the beautiful Champlain Valley of Vermont between Burlington and Middlebury. Our district is rural and serves over 1,300 students PK-12 from the four towns of Bristol, Monkton, New Haven and Starksboro, BES serving 270.  BES/MAUSD is a vibrant learning community with dedicated, intelligent, accepting students and hard working, caring, passionate educators.  Great things happen within and beyond our classrooms.  Students learn to be lifelong learners as they support and challenge each other’s thinking. BES educators are dedicated to using instructional best practices across our instructional offerings. Administrators take steps to create safe and welcoming environments.  We are leading the way with our work on academic proficiencies, work habits, and transferable skills.  We articulate what we want our students to know and be able to do and offer flexible pathways for students to demonstrate their learning.

We are a community that cares deeply for our students, our schools and one another.  Our fans cheer from the sidelines of athletic competitions, theater performances take place in front of packed auditoriums.  Our community is committed to understanding  and mapping a path forward that embraces change in these challenging times.

We are fortunate to have such a great staff and community working to support an amazing student body.  For those who live and work here, thank you for helping to make MAUSD such a wonderful place.  For those considering working or living here we look forward to meeting you one day.
